A pack of pork chops (4) is like 2.54 at my local store

We love these. Smoke a portion like a roast. Cut some into pork chops (also pound thin to fry for sandwiches), slice a roast thin and make a roulade, cut thin strips for Chinese etc etc.

Get a vacseal and you can marinade ahead of time also. Nice score.

Check of your local restaurant supply places that sell to the public.

GFS has pork loin for as cheap as $0.89 a pound near me for frozen and $1.79 fresh

Buying a piece of meat and cutting it up is not a hack. It’s the normal thing to do.

Smart move. Most people don’t realize that you can make stew with pork. I do the same thing if I can get a good deal on pork. I use beef chuck roast for stew meat/small roast/ (pre-cut stew meat is almost $4/lb. here).

I like the tenderloins a little better. I do medallions with them.

I got 5 of these loins, ranging from 12-14lbs, for 1.89/lb before New Years and cut a lot of chops, stew pieces, roasts, and made so much tallow from all the fat

This isn’t a hack. You aren’t even vacuum sealing them…

  9. rideadove

The real hack was buying these in bulk when they were on sale for $8 off each a month ago.

I buy hamburger like this. goes from 5$ to 3.50$ Whole chickens are 99 cents a pound so i buy those and give my dogs the legs. I have been American poor since I was a kid. I know how to get the most out of my money and I don’t buy extraneous shit. No apps, no stupid subscriptions. None of that.

Up your game by getting a vacuum sealer from Costco.

  12. U dont need vacuum seal… just use a pot of water and freeze bags…

Sometimes early on Saturday mornings I find these whole pork loins $4 off per package – not advertised. Stupid cheap.

  14. I can buy center cut chops for $2.49/lb. And I dont have to buy 20 of them or do the labor.

  15. The Costco hack would be to buy a vaccum sealer and seal those chops up.

OP, I’m a fan of this and partake as well. You might try a wet brine on the loin before you freeze them. Makes them even better and they are ready to cook when you unthaw.

The back of the package literally has an illustration and instructions for cutting the loin into chops, rib roast, and sirloin roast.

They regularly have $8 off package sales on these. I think I paid $9 for a loin after New Years and did the same. Wait for a sale and stock up.

Costco has $5 off the entire loin sometimes but the price is solid even without it

  19. Buy a whole cut and portion it up yourself? Wow that’s wild. How come no one else has ever thought of that? Especially on a sub dedicated to meat. Crazy.

  20. pangolyninc

That’s what I do, but I pay a bit more for pre cut. Maybe next time I’ll cut myself.

Wait until you fi d out about the #40 box of chicken breasts at cash and carry.

2.79 is a little high. Can find these for 1.99.

  23. Dadogolira

Did that with a pork loin from Sam’s Club a few weeks ago when I found it on sale for $14.

  24. Mr_MacGrubber

Real Costco hack is to buy a vacuum sealer when you’re there instead of using ziplock bags.

  25. Brian-88

I do this when they go on sale at – $5 sticker price. I’ll buy six and break them down.

Aren’t the thick cut pork chops 2.99/lb?
