Red card stat is nothing but a smear and pressure tactic for the title run in which starts starting today…

Did you know that Celtic are on a run of 85 domestic games or so without receiving a red card? It’s been mentioned once or twice on social media, but now it seems that it’s a stat that’s starting to gather momentum in the SMSM, coincidentally just as the title race is starting to hot up.
The moronic motormouth that is Kris Boyd added yet more fuel to the Ibrox conspiracy theory bandwagon when he suggested that Reo Hatate was only ordered off in Bologna due to the absence of Scottish officials. Boyd proving yet again that he’s just as intelligent as those who sit behind their laptops with tinfoil hats.
Yes it’s correct that we have received five red cards in 25 European games, as opposed to zero in 85 domestic games, but that’s not that surprising since we don’t dominate against sides on the continent in the same manner we do domestically.
Asides from Reo’s ordering off, those red cards in European Football, only one was received in a game on home turf in a game we were dominating, and that was the ordering off for Daizen Maeda last year in the 1-0 win over Young Boys in the Champions League.
The others where dished out in away European fixtures, in games we were up against sides who like to dominate the ball, those being the two dished out to Gustaf Lagerbielke and Odin Thiago Holm in the 2-0 defeat to Feyenoord nearly three years ago, and the one to Daizen Maeda in the 6-0 thumping by Atletico Madrid in the same campaign.
We don’t receive many reds domestically because we dominate the ball in 99 percent of our games, and more importantly we haven’t committed any sort of offence that justifies such a punishment. Are we the only side in football who deserve a player to be red carded in each and every game? It seems to be the case, as each and every game every single incident is magnified by rival supporters and the SMSM.
Our record in Europe football on a disciplinary basis is quite impressive this campaign, much better than the Ibrox side who have received two reds on the continent opposed to the one they have received domestically.
Our last red card domestically was dished out to Yang at Tynecastle almost two years ago, incidentally where we are heading today, and even then it was a controversial call instigated by John Beaton on VAR, who also happens to be on VAR duty today.
Make no mistake, this red card stat is nothing more than a smear and pressure tactic, with the title race well and truly on.
