A new restaurant serving Sicilian dishes straight from a nonna’s cookbook is set to open in the Jewellery Quarter.

Vieni will be the first hospitality venue to open in The Goodsyard, a new development in the neighbourhood recently named the best place to live in Birmingham.

The new restaurant will have space for 40 diners and a menu featuring dishes like whole sea bass and chargrilled beef ribs with Sicilian favourites like arancini, cannoli and Marsala-soaked tiramisu.

Vieni translates to ‘come in’ and the plan is for the restaurant to feel like nonna’s house, with chef owner Angelina Adamo taking inspiration from her Sicilian nan.

Coffee will be brewed in traditional moka pots with a side of brioche and sharp lemon granita, though there’s a Ferrari-red coffee machine in the 1,485sq ft space too.

Spritzes and Italian liqueurs will feature on the drinks list, alongside affogatos.

The open kitchen in the heart of the room is set off by Sicilian-inspired wallpaper, a Bertha charcoal oven and more modern touches like a statement disco ball.

It’ll flicker light down over 60 hand made plates by potter Moulded by Sarah Jane, who has added unique slogans to each with phrases like ‘VIENI, BAB’.

It’ll welcome its first diners on Saturday, February 7.

Angelina Adamo has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, hotels and kitchens over the last decade and her business Tutto Apposto has been hosting private dining and hospality events for years, including operating the Birmingham Hippodrome’s Circle Lounge restaurant.

Vieni is her first brick and mortar restaurant, led by manager Charlotte Carter.

Angelina said: “When I first viewed the site, sunlight flooded the space and I just knew.

“My very first thought was how perfectly a disco ball would catch the light! Vieni allows me to bring my Nonna’s cooking into a restaurant setting for the first time and seeing that vision realised in my first permanent space is incredibly special.

“I can’t wait to showcase that Sicilian food isn’t just pizza and pasta, it’s so much more!”

Manager Charlotte added: “We’ve been sketching ideas on napkins from the very beginning, menus, colours, the kind of team and atmosphere we wanted to create.

“Vieni is about warmth, generosity and making people feel instantly at home.

“We’re so proud to be the flagship hospitality opening in The Goodsyard, it’s so exciting to finally open the doors.”

Vieni will be at The Goodsyard, 41 Pitsford Street, Jewellery Quarter, B18 6LJ. Bookings are now live.
