A “TRAD wife” has shared her daily routine, explaining how she bucks the modern trend by staying at home while her hubby is at work – and why she thinks other women would be happier if they did the same.
Janea Robinson describes herself as a “trad wife” – a lifestyle centred on old-fashioned gender roles.

The 26-year-old says she has always been drawn to this dynamic, having grown up watching her parents live the same way.
When she got married two years ago, she became a stay-at-home wife who relies on her husband, Austin, 23, to work full-time and pay for everything.
“I’ve always been a believer [in God], so biblically I believe the woman is made more to be more of a caretaker, nurture, the heart of the home, and the husband made to protect, and provide,” Janea told What’s the Jam.
“When I got married, we had the same ideas for our roles, so naturally I became a stay-at-home wife and he works and pays for everything.
“I decorated and made our house a home, I do most of the cooking and cleaning, and he worries about all the outside noise.
“It’s been heavenly.”
As for her plans for motherhood, she said she will be raising her offspring outside of established norms, too.
Janea said: “Soon I will have children and be blessed enough to be a stay-at-home mum.
“My husband and I will get to pour into our children and raise them instead of schools or daycare.
“And I think that’s extremely important.”
For now, most of Janea’s days are spent at home washing up, doing the shopping, cooking, walking her Australian Shepherd mix Hank Jr. and cleaning to keep things looking “put together”.
Some days involve baking sourdough bread and desserts, while others include workouts, sauna sessions and meditation.
Janea, from Nashville, Tennessee, said: “My days are really chill and flexible.
“I love the flexibility and being on my time.
What is a trad wife?

A trad wife (short for traditional wife) is a woman who chooses to take on an ultra traditional role in marriage, meaning she makes dinner and looks pretty whilst her husband goes to work.
The trend takes inspiration from the idea of a 1950s housewife.
Many ‘trad wives’ choose to dress in the style of clothing popular in this period (think floral dresses and frumpy cardigans).
Additionally, the values considered important to trad wives are similar to strict Christian values.
Trad wives believed they were not forced into this way of life, and that it was their purpose to be homemakers.
The trend, which has garnered attention on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, glamorises a time gone by with little acknowledgement of the economic challenges facing families and mothers today.
“I definitely can’t wait to be a mum though, and to be able to fill my day more.
“I chose this lifestyle because I believe it’s more of my role and where I’d thrive the most.
“I appreciate not working for someone else and having a nine-to-five every day.
“I enjoy being with my husband more and [making the most of] our lives.”
Janea believes this slower, more traditional lifestyle strengthens their relationship with God and with each other.
Having previously managed a modelling school for four years, Janea does have some experience of grafting.
But she doesn’t have any plans to get a job in the future.
She said: “Being a trad wife to me is having traditional values and a traditional marriage, where we serve each other the way God intended.
“Living this way helps us to strengthen our relationship with God, each other, and soon our children.
“Instead of both working, focusing and stressing about that and being busy.
“We are blessed to get to live this way and I highly recommend it to anyone who can.
“I think most women would be happier with this lifestyle.”
