EXCLUSIVE: Food Network has set a March premiere date for Mayor of Flavortown Guy Fieri‘s new culinary competition series Flavortown Food Fight. The series will launch on Food Network on Wednesday, March 4 at 9 p.m. and will stream next day on HBO Max and discovery+.
This is the first formal announcement of the series, which came to light when Fieri suffered a leg injury late last year, forcing production on the series to pause.
In each episode, Fieri will welcome three chefs to Flavortown where skills and cooking chops can earn advantages and ultimately a win. Competitors will choose their own adventure as they compete in authentic food establishments ranging from street food carts to neighborhood spots to fast casual eateries and the finest fine dining restaurants in the world.
Competitors will first complete the skills challenge, followed by two rounds of cooking challenges to earn their “paycheck,” but only the final winner will take home the cash in the winner-takes-all game. Winners of the skills challenge will select the first restaurant kitchen where competitors will work to tackle real world menu-based challenges such as “Mexican Street Food” or “Five Star Fine Dining.”
Fierie will declare the theme of each episode and present each challenge with his son Hunter Fieri also stopping by to present the menu for some of the cooking challenges.
Two guest judges determine who moves on and who goes home. Episode winners have the chance to win up to $20,000 across the challenges and will return to face two new competitors the following week with no limit to the amount of wins they’re able to achieve.
“For the first time in television history, we’re opening the gates of Flavortown and inviting some of America’s most talented chefs to showcase their skills in a never-ending list of off-the-hook restaurants that you’ll only find here,” said Fieri. “We’ve been building out this universe for years and I’m stoked to finally invite everybody in!”
Fieri also will lead an exclusive tour through Flavortown on Food Network’s social pages where fans can see what the judges are up to behind the scenes, check out some exclusive photos and stay up to date on the competition.
“After years of hearing Guy talk about it, we are so excited to finally give fans a chance to see Flavortown in all its glory,”said Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery. “We know viewers will love this fresh take on the competition format, and the endless variables will make it one of our most exciting and unpredictable series yet.”
Flavortown Food Fight is produced by Knuckle Sandwich and Lando Entertainment for Food Network.
