I was originally planning to purchase a LSG pellet grill but with upgrades and freight it was going to cost north of $4750 delivered and a 3 month plus lead time.
I then came across the Weber Searwood XL 600 on YouTube. I know, it’s not in the same universe as the LSG however for a fourth of the price I was very intrigued. After watching hours of reviews on YouTube and all of The Basement Hangouts channel, Chad and team convinced me to proceed with the Searwood.
I saw online that a local Lowe’s had two of the XL 600s in stock so I drove over. When I arrived they had the smaller 600 on clearance for $499 down from $999 and vs the $1300 price of the XL.
I never considered the smaller sized one as the price was only $300 different. But at a $800 price variation it felt like a no brainer.
We are only a family of four with two small kids so I hope I don’t miss out on the larger cooking space.
Had to share! Really looking forward to breaking in the Searwood. I purchased some Bear Mountain Gourmet Blend and Hickory pellets and ordered some Smokin’ Pecan pellets. Any must have accessories, tips or recipes would be greatly appreciated!

Love my Searwood.
Snatchies!
Would buy instantly
I have the 600 & love it
Weber makes a solid product. Great price, also!
Damn now that’s a deal I can get behind!
Good find! Jump on this! Love mine!
I have the XL but I found it at a good discount as well (849$USD).
Amazing deal. Would buy in a heartbeat. I have the 600 XL and love it. Definitely buy the front and side shelves. Cover if you plan to put it outside exposed. The probe is fairly accurate but would definitely recommend something else like a FireBoard or RFX.
I hate seeing ppl getting great buys on a Searwood after I missed a sale and ended up paying the full price. That said I am not sorry .. I love it .. and while I have had it less than a year I don’t see how I’d make use of the extra space of the XL.
Enjoy … as my daughter used to say “you lucky duck”
What location?
Omg why can I not get this kind of deal
I have the XL but I gotta tell you if I saw this when I was looking I’d get that deal so fast. The extra size is fantastic but I would work this thing into the ground for 6+ years easily
At that price I’d get another one and keep it in storage as a spare!
Must have been a clearance item. Great deal. We have 4 adults and the 600 is all we need. For reference, we previously had a 24″ Camp Chef, again without worries about size. Unless you’re cooking a huge amount of meat, the smaller size is all you really need. I’ve done 2 spatchcocked chickens no problem, and that’s before the upper rack. The searing ability and the rotisserie option are with it.
The only thing I wish Weber included was the pellet hopper level sensor.
Shut the front door!!! What a smoking (pun intended) deal!!!
Searwood is one of my grills and I love it. I would highly recommend [grate replacements](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CPF1YKSC) so you can actually take advantage of how hot this thing gets. (My review is the one under “AH”.) Hit 600° or manual-10 and let them preheat a little and you’re rocking and rolling. The thin grates the Searwood comes with suck and can’t sear very well at all.
Overall, it packs a big punch at $500 and you’ll enjoy it. It’s plenty of cooking space for your family of four.
