Found a Trager Pro 780 on clearance for 499, my 4 year old Oakford 790’s controller died last weekend. I’m out of warranty and I was told by nextgrill that it is now discontinued. I was thinking about a Recteq but for 500 bucks it seems like good deal.

I had the 575 pro. It was great to start. Had some temp swing issues. Spent the extra few hundred on the searwood and haven’t looked back. WiFi on the traeger was ass. Searwood has Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity.

It’s basically a Z-Grill with a WiFi controller and a cheap temp sensor.

Replace the controller/sensor on either with a better aftermarket one, and its great!

I’ve been using mine regularly for a while now. My only complaint, which is common to almost all pellet smokers, is that the smoke flavor is very faint.

However, I bought a smoke tube off of Amazon and I have a lumberyard near me where I can get free Oak, Hickory, and Cherry shavings, and use those for added flavor which helps a ton.

My first pellet grill is a 780 pro I bought in 2020. It has preformed great. Like most modern grills the stock probes are not reliable. I bought a set of InkBird BBQ4 probes and Theemopen 1. They make a great set and both are spot on.

Just buy the Recteq and save yourself the hassle.
