I should have added this to my other post about the Food 4 Less taqueria and Secret Pizza since these are all in El Sereno but oops. Regardless, I'm happy to give Deliciosas Pupusas its own review because this place is awesome. It's located inside a car wash off of Alhambra Ave by Dorchester. It's all unmetered street parking around there.

I've had pupusas a ton of places around L.A. and so far, Deliciosas Pupusas is my #1. I don't know Salvadoran magic they wield there but the texture, the seasoning, the flavors, especially for their standard revuelta (pork/beans/cheese) pupusa are all on-point, their curtida is crunchy and acidic but not too spicy, and the size on these things is impressive (more on this in a moment).

The one thing though: like most pupuserias I've been to, they make these to order and maybe they're so good because they take their sweet time with it but you should expect to wait at least 15 minutes for your order. They don't have an online ordering system either though you may be able to send in an order by text; I'll have to test it out. This all said: worth the wait.

  • As mentioned, their revuelta pupusa is fantastic: the masa is tender, the fillings are hot and melty, the flavors were great. I'd also say the size on these are above average from what I've seen elsewhere. And for only $4? Are you kidding me? 10/10
  • But that said, the asada pupusa ($6) was massive; at least 30-40% larger than the revuelta; it was the size of a small dinner plate, no joke. Alas, this was just ok flavor-wise. The asada was on the drier side and seemed underseasoned; you really need the beans in here for both flavor and texture. Great value I suppose but not as tasty as the revuelta. 7.5/10

Personally, if you're a pupusa fan, I do think this is worth a visit to check out. I'm not saying it's the best in L.A. but it is the best I've had in L.A.

I’ve been past this place a million times and never thought to try it. I’ll have to give it a shot this weekend.

As far as price, Salvadorans are not happy with the current prices on pupusas.

I drive by this place all the time 😊 and have always wondered if they are any good. I may have to stop by. Are they a cash only or do they take card as well??

  4. Someone here on Reddit said they split em open and put the slaw inside. I tried it and it definitely changed my mind.
