One of our fave foodie events of the year returns next month when Subi Spritz is back from March 26–29, bringing four days of European-inspired feasting, sipping and celebrating to the streets of Subiaco.
Presented by See Subiaco, this year’s festival serves up a seriously mouth-watering menu of more than 20 events, from long lunches and wine battles to hands-on masterclasses, street parties and one very competitive conti roll showdown.
Returning crowd favourites include the Conti Roll Contest, where some of Perth’s best sandwich slingers battle it out for bragging rights, plus the Subi Night Market x Subi Spritz collaboration, promising Euro flavours, buzzing stalls and late-night lounging.
The festival launches on Thursday 26 March with An Italian Crafted Pairing Journey at Intuition Wine & Kitchen — a five-course Italian and French–inspired menu paired with wines curated by renowned distributor Dave Mullen.
That same night also sees the return of two Subi Spritz staples:
the always-fun Conti Roll Contest, and
Lum’s Wine Battle Vol. 4, a European-style wine showdown featuring guided tastings, Italian grazing boards and collaborations with Flowstone and Somos.
Learn from the pros
If you’d rather get hands-on, Subi Spritz has you covered. At La Delizia Burrata Masterclass (hosted at Bar Amelie), cheese-making legends La Delizia Latticini will demonstrate how to craft their signature burrata — followed by a burrata bar and 90 minutes of free-flowing Howard Park wines. Meanwhile, citrus fans can head to the Limoncello Masterclass with Little Things Distilling Co, where guests will learn how to make their own limoncello base and customise it with infused syrups.
Wine, oysters and milestone celebrations
Wine lovers can toast 40 years of Howard Park Wines at a special Riesling & Cabernet masterclass, or dive into bubbles and brine at Jeté & Jerry, where Perth’s King of Oysters Jerry Fraser teams up with Howard Park’s Gerome Vaughan for a sparkling-and-oysters pairing session.
Long lunches, European-style
Embracing the much-loved European tradition of lingering over lunch, the program includes:
The Basque Long Table at Lum’s
European Long Lunch @ The Unicorn Bar, spanning four regions
Champagne, Chardonnay et Charcuterie at French favourite La Bastide
You can also graze at your own pace with the Subi Culinary Crawl, or follow the Venetian tradition of bar hopping with Vino & Cichetti, a self-guided bacari-style adventure through Subiaco.
Aperitivo hours & Sunday sessions
No spritz festival would be complete without aperitivo!
Juanita’s and Friends: Aperitivo Club promises bold drinks, inventive bites and Euro DJ beats, hosted by Luke Foyle (Juanita’s), Blaze Young (Nieuw Ruin) and Drew Dawson (Off Licence), while Mistelle Bistro joins the party with L’Apéro du Quartier, a chic French-style apéro hour complete with sharing boards and refreshing spritzes.
On Sunday 29 March, hospitality heavyweights Ben Ing (FOUND, Si Paradiso) and Ben Jacob (Masseria, Cherubino) team up for the Euro Sunday Sesh, pairing contemporary Italian flavours with Cherubino Wines and FOUND brews.
Street parties, films and family-friendly fun
Beyond the food and drink, highlights include a Subi Spritz Street Art Tour, a free family screening of Italian box-office hit The War of the Nonni at Subi Night Market, and the return of The Kiosk, transforming Forrest Walk into an Italian-style piazza from March 26-28 — complete with pop-up spritz bar and Italo disco DJs.
Now in its fifth year, Subi Spritz has become a staple on Perth’s food and culture calendar. City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen says the festival continues to shine a spotlight on the area’s hospitality scene.
“Subi Spritz is our iconic event showcasing our very own food and beverage experiences to the whole of Perth,” he said. “We hope Perth foodies will come out and explore, taste and see Subiaco.”
