Just got this bottle from auction, Marchesi di Barolo 1967 (one gallon, apparently gallon bottles where a thing back then)

It has been well stored according to the previous owner.

How do you think this wine has developed over time, and is it still what I hope it is?

+ What would you think is a fair price, not looking into selling but just wondering if I paid a fair price myself

I had a ’64 (different producer) not long ago that was so fresh it seemed much younger, but obvs still a very developed wine. ’67 is also an excellent vintage. I think your odds are good, especially given the format.

If ever there were a dry, unfortified wine I’d be optimistic about surviving from 1967, it’s probably a very large-format Barolo

  3. I had the chance of opening 3 bottles of ´65 marchesi di barolo this last summer and they were amazing.

Strange thing was cork, labels, were impoluted also (bought in auction as well)

Still some acidity but i felt the wines very close to their limits, do not keep ur bottle longer than 2030 i would say

    Enjoy it

It’s time to drink and enjoy. Have a party with wine loving friends and enjoy the experience.

I opened a ‘61 Marchesi di Barolo a few weeks ago. It was drinking great. Cork was small but in good shape. Drank just as young as a single vineyard 2004 Barolo next to it for the better part of 4 hours.
