I keep being told it's the best pizza in Toronto. I've had it twice and it ranged from good to okay but not mind blowing.

Had it once in 2021 after friends hyped it up. I forget exactly, but the sweet one with figs was my favorite one, it was good. There was a sausage one and another savory one, and I thought they were okay. Same friends who ate with me told me it was a bad batch. oh hey I found pictures

Then had it in 2024, a Cacio e Pepe. It was fine, but we also had a Renaissance (Pepperoni) with it and I liked that one better.

For comparison, mind blowing tier pizzas to me were Descendents and previously North of Brooklyn (the last two I got from them were burnt…). Slab Pizza is my guilty pleasure, Burratino's is really good as a more clean-looking standard option. I also really like Pizza Maru but I want to try it more. I prefer savory over sweet (which made it weird that I liked the figs one most).

On the other hand, Badiali's hot honey dip was mind-blowing and deserves the hype.

Bro but standing in the line with influencers ! Thats what makes it so amazing

I would say that Badiali is very good – but it’s not worth lining up for.

I used to live in the area and would only go if there was no lineup on a quiet night.

Biadali’s is above average, but the best pizza I’ve had in Toronto is One Night Only (ONO) on Pape. It’s expensive and they’ve shrinkflated the size of the pies, but the crust… hot damn.

  4. Taestiranos

Only the pizza in the last photo is badiali right? It looks pretty good.

Every time I’ve had badiali it’s been fantastic. I’ve only ever gotten slices though.

Not sure if I’d put it above or below north of Brooklyn though.

  5. rootsandchalice

We live down the street from a north of Brooklyn location. What’s with them burning all the pizzas lately?

  6. Green_Watercress1638

I do believe Baidalis is best in Toronto. But no pizza is worth waiting in a line for. Especially in the winter.

  7. quantythequant

It’s great pizza, but not mind blowing. I wouldn’t wait an hour in line for it (though tbf there are a very small number of things I would wait that long for).

A lot of pizza places are quite good in Toronto

  9. Get simpler ones: cheese or vodka.

A topping covered pie is a topping covered pie. But badialli has some of the best crust and sauce around and it really shines on simpler pies. But North of Brooklyn and Macs are also excellent without the line.

So many better pizza places in the city… Mac’s, Fresca, Slowhand… the list goes on…

  11. rustbucket_enjoyer

This place gets a lot of hype but my position is, Salt and Tobacco or GTFO

I just came back from Cowabunga in Hamilton, need to compare them both as I expect Badiali to be on a similar level. I’m downtown every week but Badiali is quite a distance from Union station and the office towers.

They’re opening a new location on Bloor, which gives me hope on further expansion in the core . we need a killer pizza spot in the downtown central area. Blondie’s and Prince Street are ok, definitely not like the Hamilton scene.

I used to be all about the big slice on Yonge Street.

I think pizza is subjective. Someone could suggest their favourite pizza place to me and it might end up being my least favourite, and vise versa. I wouldn’t look too far into it.

  14. Badiali is the best thin crust I’ve had in Toronto. The actual toppings are nothing out of the ordinary. If you’re someone who likes a plain thin crust pizza (sauce + cheese) you’ll appreciate badiali a lot. If you want amazing toppings / enjoy a thicker crust badiali might not be your cup of tea

I’ve never gotten whole pies from them, just slices.

Definitely their vodka slice is where they shine.

  16. -Starlegions-

Did you have the Burrata Marinara cause that one was really good.

  17. passiveparrot

Good but not worth lining up for

So many options without massive lines with similar profiles

  18. Vodka, order in advance. If you don’t like Vodka pizza then its still good, but I’m not blown away. Also agree with the above comment that One Night Only is one of the best.

Honourable mention to Grams. $25 is great value these days

I agree with you. I had it twice during the summer, first time was actually very good hitting alot of different notes, crunchy and well conceived. The second time was actually worse then a visit to pizza Nova, not saying Nova is bad, but the pizza was cold, no crunch, no flavor, it’s like someone’s cousin had slipped in to cook after taking a beginner cooking class. Very disappointed. Maybe the best cooks were on vacation. Anyways I don’t think I’ll wait or pay the premium again for a while.

No. It’s good but I don’t see why it gets the hype it does other than it being social media famous. I personally prefer north of Brooklyn or descendants

  21. Benvenuto_Cellini_

Are you a trend chaser or hype beast?

If not, then Badialis is just as good as any other decent pizza joint.

  22. theabomination

Slab pizza? Like the burger place on Bay and Charles?

  23. Remote-Beat900

Honestly, I just went myself, because of all the hype I felt like I needed to try it, and I was seriously disappointed. Everyone went on about their vodka slice so that’s what I had and if I’m going to be honest with you, north of Brooklyn’s vodka, Verde is much better in my opinion.

  24. JohnSavage777

I think Badiali is the best for that style of pizza.

If you prefer the deep dish style I would 100% recommend “Hooray For Pizza Day”, which is my favourite

  25. Optimal-Company-4633

I think pizza can be subjective in some ways. If your favourite is descendant, you likely won’t agree with someone who’s favourite is Pizza Fresca for example. People who like descendant typically like unique flavour combinations, fusion food, and loading up on toppings. My favourite thing about badiali is the crust and sauce flavours and consistency, and I typically enjoy a more NY-style pizza.

Don’t get me wrong, descendant isn’t BAD, it’s great, but I never crave it. Im not surprised that you didn’t love badiali because they are fundamentally two completely different styles of pizza and what many people love might just not be your cup of tea and that’s ok. I don’t think you’re “missing something”.

While I really like badiali, I rarely ever get it because it’s not close to me, I think the slices are overpriced, I don’t like lines, and they make it weirdly difficult to even order a whole pie (I called a few months ago on a Wednesday or Thursday around 4 to order a pizza and not only could they simply not take my order over the phone, the website said the earliest they could make one is 9pm LOL wtf). So for those reasons I agree with you that it’s overhyped. But if it was my neighbourhood joint I’d definitely still be getting it.

Pizza Fresca, 4th man in the fire, bitondos, King slice… Now those are places that I literally CANNOT pass by without getting a slice or panzo… And they make it real easy to do so!

  26. dirtynewbiescum

Badiali at its worst, is like pizza nova at its best.

  27. howloften

Imo it’s the vodka sauce one that’s so good

  28. Equivalent-Second728

didn’t see their vodka pizza…i’d say its their best one.

  29. Evening-College-6686

At least at Pizza Gigi you could get some weed with your pizza. That was worth lining up for.
