Has anyone recreated hooters wings before? There used to be a location neat me but it closed years ago. Now the closest one is 3hours away. No place near me does a breaded wing, and something iconic about the taste I'm craving.
I see Walmart sells the breading in a bag. they used to sell the sauce, but now the sauce is only available for shipping at like $10 per jar.
Hopefully somone can help me out. Goin through a complicated releationship and just need some comfort food lol

If you are in the Midwest Hy-Vee carries the Hooters Wing sauce but it’s like $8 a jar.
As best I can, yes. There’s a book (America’s Secret Recipes) that I’ve based my wings recipe on. Given I use minced garlic and more of it now, but that book has a solid foundation for them.
The buffalo shrimp recipe, in my opinion has led to superior quality at home. But still, for me, nothing beats a Hooters wing. Maybe if I get the breading thicker and crispier, I’d match them. I feel like my sauce could use something to thicken it too (as theirs has a thickness to it).
why would you want to?
You do not need any special breading. Save your money on that. Put some flour and spices (salt/pepper/garlic powder/paprika/cayenne) in a ziplock bag and add the wings and toss. Now here’s the secret, put the zip lock bag in the refrigerator for around 90 minutes (toss them around every 30 minutes) and then fry. Important to note: I have only tested this with deep frying and not other cooking methods.
A rough recipe for the flour can be found https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/24087/restaurant-style-buffalo-chicken-wings/
Again, the key to doing it right is to refrigerate the wings after you coat in flour.
Most of these products are licensed in name only. Chi Chi salsa is not from Chi Chi, TGI Friday’s mudslides are not a Friday’s recipe. I’ve never tried Hooter’s bottled sauce, but I wouldn’t get my hopes up.
My Publix and Kroger carry the sauce if you are near those.
I’ve used both of these and have been pretty satisfied with the outcome. Probably as close as you’ll get at home. Definitely deep fry them. Don’t try to use an oven or air fryer.
