Taste Spain London, a new UK showcase for Spanish food and wine, is to launch at Mare Street Market, King’s Cross, on Tuesday 24 February.

 

Aimed at trade and media audiences, Taste Spain London will be curated by Foods and Wines from Spain to highlight Spanish produce and culinary traditions.

 

The first show will focus on flavour and exploring food and wine pairing. A full programme of workshops, chefs’ demos, wine tutorials and pairing masterclasses will be some of the features forming part of the day’s events.

 

The programme includes a Cava, Sherry & Iberian ham pairing masterclass by Ferrán Centelles, Spanish wine expert and former sommelier at El Bulli; Beyond Albariño: The Hidden Faces of Rías Baixas Tutored Tasting by Madrid-based wine expert Beth Willard; and Brindisa Kitchens x Mare Street Market tapas lunch.

 

Spanish food and wine producers will present a range of products already available in the UK or seeking distribution. Visitors will be able to sample food and drink such as fine Spanish cheeses, cured meats, olive oils and wines.

 

Those exhibiting include Spanish almonds supplier Aperimax, hand-crafted truffle producer Gourmet & Chic and organic extra virgin olive oils brand Almazara La Senda.

 

Among the deli counter, Ibéricos Montesano will showcase its Jamón Ibérico and Lomo de Bellota and Villajos will present its small-batch PDO ‘Queso Manchego’.

 

Exhibitors also include wine producers with UK distribution, such as CVNE with its importer Hatch Mansfield, Bodegas Artadi with Pol Roger, Bodegas Manzanos with Alliance Wine, TIHOM with Givino and Torres wines with Fells. Plus importers Ehrmanns Wines, Gonzalez Byass UK, Ellis, Freixenet Copestick-Jascots, Hallgarten, J&O Boutique Wines will show off their portfolios.

 

Organic and biodynamic wines specialist Vintage Roots will be there with its sustainable Spanish selection. Spanish food and wine importer C&D Wines will present a range of wines alongside its Jamón de Bellota and Ultracomida will showcase wines from Rioja and fine ciders from Asturias.

 

A selection of wineries seeking UK distribution include Bodegas Otazu from Navarra, Huerta de Albalá whites and reds from the vineyards of Andalucia, Santa Catalina organic whites and reds from Ciudad Real.

Dining and Cooking
