Nice looking loaf! Loaf pan bakes are nice, but I like the crust on my boules too. It’s nice to have options!

Well done!

Saving this post! Looks amazing!

Yes! You can try long loaf pans too like the Emile Henry Italian baker.

See, I need to make this change. Tired of my little weird-shaped toast.

I much prefer loaf pans! It’s always a perfect cook and always looks great. I don’t obsess about shape and rise, it’s just perfect and uniform every time!

Same here!! It feels like cheating because it’s so idiot-proof. Plus no little odd stubby pieces because you’re cutting straight lined slices from something that’s round.

My husband strongly prefers this shape too! And he is the primary breadeater 😆

That looks beautiful. How much water?

I always do sandwich loaves too! Initially because my family likes them better but I’ve grown to prefer them as well!
I recently made the switch too! soo much more convenient (plus you don’t have to preheat a dutch oven!)

Have been doing sandwich loafs for over a year, can fit 3 in the oven easily at a time so a time saver too instead of the cast iron. I still use the cast iron every now and again when doing a special back and not an everyday loaf.

I am a convert as well! I made sourdough in a loaf pan a few weeks ago and now it is the only way. I thought that I was alone in the dark side of sourdough baking. It just makes it so so much easier all the way around. I put the loaf into a challenger bread pan with some ice cubes for the initial part of the bake and it the oven spring is phenomenal and the bread is nice and consistent for sandwiches.

What what’s was your hydration level on this, I’d love to give it a shot.

I recently converted to loaf pans for practicality’s sake and I’m never going back. Sure I’ll probably make a specialty loaf that’s fun shaped, but my weekly loaves being sandwich shaped and uniform in size is what dreams are made of.

I only do loaves like this too. It’s just too easy.

I’m a super sourdough cheater … mix in the bread machine and transfer to a loaf pan and then slice with a meat slicer. I started this journey to make sandwich bread because I refuse to pay $5 a loaf … works for me

I use 2 loaf pans held together with bulldog clips so the loaf forms the same way every time. Means it fits in the kids lunchboxes perfectly. Love this shape.
