My local coop only charges six or seven a pound for their hot bar.

  2. KommandoKazumi

2.5lb? What, they put lead shot in the mac n cheese?

  3. borkusinthehouse

whole foods hot bar is actually a pretty good value if you do it right. paying by the pound for a huge pile of pasta is inefficient. I usually get 2 chicken thighs, a scoop of vegetables and a couple of meatballs for around $10.

  4. IvoShandor

$11.20/pound doesn’t sound that bad. You got 2.5 pounds of food for lunch? For one person?

  5. Robbie1266

Where’s the 2.5lbs of food? This is disgustingly ignorant

  6. StopFoodWaste

Might have to start bringing 1 lb calibration weights to the food bar

  7. DarthSnoopyFish

Ever go there in the morning? They have a mountain of bacon.

  8. Clueless-Destiny

Well I’ve spent more on dumber things lol

For that price you could probably go to a local Mexican joint and receive a plate denser than a neutron star

  10. SpeedBlitzX

    $28 dollars for that… Dang.

I love mac n cheese and chicken tender but for 28 dollars this would not be my first choice. Heh

  11. Buying pasta from a hot bar is the dumbest thing you could do

Just put “orange” in the lookup and weight it and pay for the weight at oranges price.

For me, the most disappointing thing about the Whole Foods hot bar is that most of it looks great while none of it has ANY flavor. How do they do that?

  14. Looks like you ate half the food before taking the picture. I love the hot bar when I want a little taste of certain things but not a full portion.

I do the Whole Foods hot bar semi-frequently for lunch. Usually only comes out to between $10-15. Tip is to avoid the thicker foods and bone-in meats that add extra weight.

Frozen chicken strip and boil in the bag Mac.

    It’s like prison food.

You gkt 2lb macaroni? This looks like less than that

  18. I’m an introvert, I’ve put up with some egregious errors that servers have made, I’ve been shafted quite a bit because I don’t want to speak up. If this got scanned at they tried to take $28 dollars for it I’d immediately would say “I don’t want it anymore” and would walk away. No way I’m paying almost 30 bucks for a chicken tender and a scoop of mac and cheese from a hot lamp. Maybe MAYBE if Gordon Ramsey personally cooked it in front of me? I dunno….. It’s hard to think of a scenario I’d bite on the $30 tender/Mac & Cheese combo…

For 32 dollars we got at least 5 lbs of chicken and rice and some sort of a dry curry and rice and 14 egg rolls… 32 dollars and the lady will not except tips. 32 dollars and it was food for 2 days. Delicious on all accounts.

  20. Suck the cheese off the noodles before you put them in the box. Save yourself some weight..

  21. Butthole_Ticklah

That’s yesterdays left out to long chicken that was reheated and left out to long again.

You good OP? Diarrhea is about to leave your butthole as if it was late to catch a flight.

  22. here-to-Iearn

You complain. Yet you’re part of the problem by supporting these asinine business who are taking advantage of people

  23. chapsthedude

I used to call those Gamble Boxes in college because they didn’t have scales, so I had to guesstimate whether a box of soggy orange chicken would be reasonable or the price of a fancy dinner for two.

  24. doubtinggull

You have to approach the hot bar like a puzzle, you’re looking for maximum flavor at minimum weight. Mac and cheese is a rookie move. This is a skill issue

  25. Fuck Whole Foods, they’ve really just become an overpriced regular grocery store with a few more “health” items.

  26. Infamous-Oil3786

    “Oh man, that looks good”

    *reads the title*

    **TWENTY EIGHT DOLLARS????**

  27. ChixawneyFarms

I love the hot bars at whole foods and such bit you need yo be smart about it

They usually line price it by me so you get 1lb of mac it’s 12.99. You get 1 lb of meatballs chicken wings roast turkey bbq or any protien for the same price. The carby options are not worth it!
