A family-run restaurant at the heart of its village has been named one of the best French dining concepts anywhere in Britain. Bistrot Vérité in Birkdale village has built a name for itself since opening in 2009, with the independent hosting dozens of people a day.
Owned by the Vérité family, Marc and Michaela passed the baton to their sons, Jacques and Charlie, with the name now synonymous with irresistible food across Southport.
The restaurant has received a number of accolades over the years, including a place in the Michelin Guide. Located opposite Birkdale train station, the restaurant has another reason to celebrate with a listing in the esteemed Good Food Guide.
The Good Food Guide compiled a list of 16 must-visit French-inspired restaurants across Britain, praised for their authentic menus and quality of dishes.
Thrilled with the Good Food Guide recommendation, Jacques said: “We’re super honoured. On behalf of myself, my mum, my dad and my brothers, we want to thank our staff who we couldn’t have done this without.

“Everyone works so hard and we’re always pushing to be better. I want to thank our customers for continued support, our regulars and people who come from all over the place.
“We’re very fortunate to have a lot of people come from all over the North West and all over the country to eat here. If it wasn’t for their support, we couldn’t do this. So thank you again.”
Discussing the everyday workings of the family business, Jacques previously told the ECHO: “We work really well together as a family and a team. Everyone has their own ideas.

“We listen to each other and have patience. It’s nice that we all do it together. It’s good. You speak to a lot of people who say they could never work with their family but we can.
“Without that respect for one another, it can’t be done. It can be challenging, don’t get me wrong. Even though we’re [Jacques and Charlie] the youngest our parents listen to us.”
Jacques added: “We have a really good relationship with the community The location is amazing with us being in the middle of Birkdale and across from the train station. People come from Liverpool and Formby.”
