Simple solution is to not eat it at a restaurant where it’s overpriced. We eat Miyazaki A5 a couple times a month but since it’s only 799 yen per 100g, it’s quite affordable for our family of 3.

I honestly think it’s super overrated.

If you’re a local and not traveling, just buy it at the supermarket. I even had a friend who booked an Airbnb with a kitchen while traveling in Japan so he could cook wagyu at his place.

I wanted to finally eat Kobe A5 beef ‘properly’ in Japan, but didn’t have the best company for it. So I opted to check out the grocery store when we had a kitchen in the accommodation… I only did out of curiosity, because I remembered seeing posts about how cheap (for foreigners) it is in grocery stores! And to my surprise, they’re just there like normal steaks. So that’s what I did… Definitely cheaper.
But I still want to try it out ‘properly’ next time 🤣
