I found myself with free time nearby and decided to stop into San Ho Won and see if there was a chance for a solo dinner with no reservation. I arrived just before 9, was seated at the bar after less than 2 minutes of waiting, and was promptly seen to by a very friendly staff.
I had actually already had dinner, so I kept it simple and ordered a starter, side, and a main. The fixed menu is only available for 2+ people, but I wasn't hungry enough for that anyway.
Image 2 is the small bit starters, my favorite of which is the bottom one, a delicious house made tofu.
Image 3 is the beef tartar starter, which was simple and clean, but the star of the course was the crispy puffed rice seaweed crackers. This was certainly a textural delight.
Image 4 is the side of Chonggak Kimchi and sauces I was served, alongside a lovely soju. The green sauce was a delicious and unexpected salsa verde, truly perfect in its balance.
Images 1, 5, and 6 are the beef galbi, served on a ripping hot grate. Beautifully fragrant, absolutely incredible looking pieces of meat. The marinade had intense sweetness, more than I would normally like, but it worked very well against the fatty cuts of beef.
Great service, excellent food, enjoyable vibes, and I managed to walk out after 57 minutes having had a full meal without a reservation.
