Minori Italian Restaurant in Hatch End, owned by Andy Fellini, hosted the event on Friday, January 30, to mark the start of the “Hero Discount”—a 15 per cent permanent discount for all serving and retired service personnel, including staff at St Luke’s Hospice in Harrow.
Mr Fellini said: “I would like to honour all service personnel, serving and retired, together with the staff of Saint Luke’s Hospice in Harrow, with a 15% discount, not just today and tomorrow but for the rest of my working life. It makes me proud to know I have helped those hard working people in North-West London.”
Guests, including local dignitaries, service personnel and friends, were treated to a complimentary lunch as part of the celebration. Mr Fellini, who appeared on GB News earlier in the day, encouraged other businesses across the UK to follow his example.
David Simmonds, MP for Ruislip, Northwood, and Pinner, said: “This is a community with a great number of service personnel, and I think it’s a great initiative that Andy has taken. A visit to Minori is always an opportunity for an amazing meal.”
West Harrow MP Gareth Thomas also praised Mr Fellini’s generosity.
He said: “Andy, you have been a remarkable restauranteur all your life and you have done amazing things for Hatch End and what you are committing to do today in terms of the 15% off for service personnel is brilliant.”
Actor and former Pinner resident David Suchet sent a message in support of the event. He said: “I wish you a most successful and happy occasion on your amazing generous charity lunch, and for such a worthy cause. I remember very well our family visits to your lovely restaurant.
“You were always so very welcoming and made us all feel very much at home—eating delicious food with my children watching you make pasta.”
Mr Fellini began his hospitality career at The Savoy Hotel, serving film stars such as Charlie Chaplin and Sophia Loren, and comedian and Harrow resident Barry Cryer.
