Second time trying this in the span of two weeks.
Just as enjoyable this time around.
In contrast to last time, no decant, this bottle felt a little more ready to go, plus we were spacing it with dinner at Itria, so let it breathe in the bottle.
This remains a lovely wine.
Still lots of fruit, mostly dried blueberries, blackberries, plums, and cherries.
Also some dried herbs, cloves, slight leather.
This is in a beautiful window right now, can go on for a while, but why wait?
12.8% ABV, versus modern Silver Oak at 15%.
93 points.

I would like to taste something from back then. Silver Oak isn’t great now. Your description sounds wonderful.
Sounds really nice 👍
BTW, what was great in the 80s and still great in 2026 (cali cabs)?
Back when men were men and Silver Oak wasn’t mega purple.
That was my gateway producer back when I bartended many years back. They used to throw great parties.
