Liberty Wines has announced the addition of Kir-Yianni from Macedonia and Domaine Sigalas from Santorini to its portfolio.

Known for its role in popularising red Xinomavro in the Naoussa and Amyndeon regions, Kir-Yianni was founded in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris after he left the family business, Boutari Wines.

The estate is now run by fifth-generation winemaker Stellios Boutaris, with a focus on sustainability, site-specific winemaking and continuous research and development.

In 2024, Kir-Yianni became the first Greek winery to verify its carbon footprint and joined the International Wineries for Climate Action.

Meanwhile, known for its Santorini Assyrtiko, Domaine Sigalas was founded in 1991 by Paris Sigalas and has been owned by Kir-Yianni since 2025, with a relationship dating back to 2009.

The producer now manages 40ha of estate and leased vineyards in the northern parts of the island, with a focus on Assyrtiko.

On the duo of new producers, Tom Platt, Liberty Wines CEO, said: “We are hugely excited to be working with Kir-Yianni and Domaine Sigalas – two dynamic estates whose environmental credentials and focus on sustainability match our own as a Carbon Neutral Plus company.

“They sit perfectly alongside our existing Greek producer Kanakaris, together with Matošević and Enosophia of Croatia, Dalia of Serbia and Gašper of Slovenia, in offering highly distinctive wines from native varieties that have an authentic sense of place and will bring real excitement to our customers’ wine lists.”
