It’s National Pizza Day across America, and while many of us are pizza’d out from the Super Bowl just last night or even Friday or Saturday, you have to at least consider it tonight, right?
You wouldn’t be doing the day right without pizza on National Pizza Day. While you might agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment, there are some restaurants that aren’t even taking part in National Pizza Day because, you guessed it, it’s Monday and they’re closed.

National Pizza Day Comes At An Awkward Time
Kind of an odd choice to have National Pizza Day on a Monday, but anyway, I decided to look at the top pizza joints in Rockford according to Yelp users, and I was kind of stunned by what I found.
Why National Pizza Day Landing On A Monday Feels Wrong
At the top, a long-time low-key favorite among pizza aficionados in the Rockford area. This is also closed today; the #1 joint in town is Gulotta’s Pizza.

Why Gulotta’s Pizza Tops Yelp In Rockford
Gulotta’s is one of those “if you know you know” kind of places. Out of towners wouldn’t get it, but the real ones do. Scoring a 4.8 out of 5 on Yelp also helps.
Located at 1002 11th Street in Rockford, reviewers call it the “BEST PIZZA on The Stateline,” and Gulotta’s Pizza is “always spot on.”
