PSA: your gift cards/certificates don’t expire (for 9 years)

I don't know who needs to hear this, but gift cards/certificates in NY don't expire for 9 years. …

Yesterday, a major restaurant told me that the gift card I received expires in 1 year, which is untrue/illegal.

Law was enacted such that gift cards purchased on or after December 10, 2022, expire at least 9 years after the purchase date.

Most people that buy gift certificates from our restaurant ask when they expire and they are always shocked when I inform them of the law. That said, I figured it was worth sharing so nobody gets scammed.
