I posted a little while ago asking for advice on whether or not to buy an egg and decided to take the plunge and bought an XL. I haven’t bought an accessories for indirect cooking yet though and wanted to see what are peoples preferred indirect cooking setups. For your viewing pleasure are pictures of my first cook on the egg a prime rib for Christmas, I just used my Webber kettle method which is just filling half the charcoal basket and having the meat on the other half of the grill.

The ConvEGGtor plate is a must IMO, but that’s also what came with my XL when I won it through a work incentive. I know others prefer the half moon plates for easy direct/indirect cooking. Guess it’s just a matter of preference. I only use my BGE for indirect smoking, so it makes sense for me to use a full heat deflector.

The Egg Mates are worth it too, if you don’t have a reliable table nearby.

I’ve been eyeing an EGGspander lately but it’s tough to pull the trigger on a $200-250 accessory right now lol.

I was fortunate enough to get my stuff name brand since it came as a package but I’ve heard good things about the Ceramic Grill Store site for aftermarket items. Definitely check it out!

I like what I see of your first cook! You have balls my friend cooking a super expensive piece of meat. Goes to show how forgiving an egg is with a little carry over common sense! I also vote for the conveggtor or a woo with a deflector plate. Ceramic Grill Store is a good place to look.
