1. Had this about 1-2 yr ago, my colleague gave it to me – They bought it in Kyoto department store Pop-up shop

  2. It’s not the butter cookie that is slim and has butter cream inside. It looked like shortbread (rectangular shape, don’t think it had holes)

  3. There were two flavors – plain (vanilla?) and chocolate (they said chocolate was limited edition)

  4. Cookies were individually wrapped and I remember the wrapping being kind of shiny (but not sure)

  5. It did not have any filling. It was crispy and super buttery

I tried searching it, but all I can find is butter cookie with butter cream filling inside.. would appreciate any opinion

These look like the normal Walkers shortbread cookies. Maybe a popup was replicating them?

Those are Walker’s, which you might be able to find at Meidi-ya and National Azabu. [Edit: or Seijo Ishii.]

If you’re looking for any butter cookie, not just shortbread, then there are lots. The best I’ve had are probably by Échiré, who make both [sablés and a thicker cookie they call a galette](https://www.kataoka.com/echire/maisondubeurre/products/secs.html), and have a flagship store in Marunouchi.
