COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – This segment on The Three was paid for and sponsored by The Arts Center of Brazos Valley.

A fundraiser featuring student-made artwork will support local families struggling to afford food.

Empty Bowls Jr. will take place Saturday, Feb. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Allen Honda in College Station.

The event features a “kids helping kids” mission, with students and art educators from more than 25 Brazos Valley schools creating hundreds of handmade bowls to donate for the fundraiser.

Empty Bowls Jr. began in 2013 and all proceeds from the event will support local in-school food pantries and The Arts Center youth programs.

How the event works

For every $10 donation, attendees will receive a handmade bowl and a cup of soup provided by local restaurants.

There will also be performances by student groups including Unity in Strings and the Lil’ Wranglers.

The event is free and open to the public.
