If you’ve ever gone on a cruise, you know that late-night pizza is a beloved staple for seemingly all passengers. But in most cases, the pizza is not the star of the culinary show–unless you’re on a Princess Cruises ship.

The fleet’s newest ships, Sun Princess and Star Princess, both have pizza available in their main dining eateries as well as through their poolside dining options and OceanNow delivery service. But in addition to those options, guests can enjoy world-class pizza at Alfredo’s Pizzeria, which has recently received a major culinary accolade.

The pizza restaurant, located in the piazza of the ships, has been awarded a prestigious Ospitalità Italiana Certification, the top global recognition for both authentic Italian cuisine and hospitality.

To receive the certification, dining establishments must uphold Italy’s culinary traditions, and Alfredo’s does that with its Neapolitan pizzas made to order. They feature hand-stretched dough and are baked in a stone Moretti Forni oven.

“Earning the Ospitalità Italiana Certification is a meaningful validation of our dedication to authentic Italian culinary excellence,” said Sami Kohen, Princess Cruises Vice President of Food and Beverage, in a statement shared with Parade. “As we celebrate National Pizza Day, we’re proud to recognize this achievement and our partnership with Chef Tony Gemignani to showcase how we bring our guests closer to the tastes, traditions, and hospitality of Italy, one perfectly crafted pizza at a time.”

In addition to Alfredo’s, both Star Princess and Sun Princess are home to Sabatini’s Italian Trattoria, an Italian speciality restaurant available across the fleet, featuring handcrafted pasta, authentic sauces, and classic charm that celebrates Italy’s culinary traditions.
