Hey everyone, this would be my first propane grill purchase. I found a used Weber for $100. The seller says the internal burner will need to be replaced at some point and that the electric starter just needs a battery.
Do you think it’s worth buying at that price?
What else should I ask or check before purchasing?
Thanks in advance!

Not worth 100 dollars to me i wouldnt pay anything over 20 bucks for that it needs some work
Judging by the amount of corrosion/holes on the flavorizer bars I would be worried about the potential corrosion on the bottom of the grill.
Yes. Make sure the cabinet isn’t rusted out.
I believe that’s like a $900 weber grill and one of their more popular propane grills. I’d 100% buy that for a $100 and spend some money just changing the heat deflector/drip catcher metal things for like another $100 and you’ll have a great grill.
The current version is 800-900 new. You could replace the burners and the flavorizer bars for about 150-200$ depending what ones you go with. Battery for the igniter and some other stuff to clean it. Worst case you’re in for $200+$100 for the grill. So for a little work you’ll get a good grill with new parts and save $500 minimum. It will cook your steak the same as a brand new one. I’d buy it 100%
Just look inside and make sure the body of it/frame isn’t rusting out. Just looks dirty inside. Flavorizer bars always rot out after so many years.
So, the Genesis is a GREAT grill. And all of the parts for it can be replaced and found online both Weber OEM brand or 3rd party.
With no sear station or side burner, it is the base version. $100 is a bit steep given the work it needs, but it is still cheaper than buying new. If it is just grates and flavorer bars, then you can get a 3rd party replacement for all of the inside pieces for $99 on amazon or Walmart. Unclear if you will need new burner tubes.
Otherwise, a sponge, some dawn dish soap and a degreaser can make the rest of it sparkle like new again with an hour of work.
Like any home project, the more you look, the more you find, and the bad stuff you can see will give a decent indication of the state of the hidden stuff.
For me, I would not spend $100 for an unknown. If the tank is included and in good shape with a few years left, that’s a plus. Without a good tank, not a chance.
Looks like the grill I have.
It survived flying off a truck on the expressway.
As others have mentioned, a bit of elbow grease and buying some new parts and this thing is ready to grill all the meats.
Yes great deal! You can but new favor bars on Amazon for $30
Yep.
Buy it, get the model number and replace the worn out or rusted parts by getting replacements from Amazon.
$100 is a steal.
Most of the parts should be lifetime warranty so you just go to Lowe’s or home Depot and replace the whole inside burners and everything for free.
Yes.
I do love weber but I always find myself setting the grill on fire or the temp getting too hot.
100% would buy it ! I just purchased the same one 2 weeks ago for $120. Grates are built like a tank, flavorizer bars will need replacing but available for under $100 bucks . The difference from the genesis to my old nexgrill with the temperature accuracy is a game changer . Do it .
I bought an older version of that grill for $100 and spent another $75 or so replacing some parts. It’s still working 15 years later.
Is this solid brick of 18k gold worth the $20??
With the box rusted on the bottom like that? Absolutely not.
Use to sell grills use to tell people most of our grills were disposable if they wanted something to last get a Weber.Good grills from a company with great customer service. Would tell people who came in to get parts to call Weber and they would usually send them the part free
Yes absolutely!
Flavorizers (“A frame” shaped head spreaders) are consumables, but you can upgrade to stainless for almost the same cost and they’ll last MUCH longer than porcelain coated steel. Same thing with the grates. Upgrade to stainless rod. Both “stock” versions typically last about 5 years.
I have done both upgrades to my 28yo Weber Genesis Silver B and doubt I’ll ever need to replace either before my wife buries me with it.
Also inspect the drip catch pan holder for rot. Those are replaceable too, but I haven’t found a stainless one yet.
Looks like a EP/S, I got my stainless flavorizers on Amazon, and the grates and other parts here: [https://www.grillparts.com/Weber/genesis/ep-s-310-320-330.aspx](https://www.grillparts.com/Weber/genesis/ep-s-310-320-330.aspx)
Definitely worth it. Those rusty parts can be replaced
You can get new bars and go stainless on the cooking grate all for somewhere around $250 I think. I spent $700 on my Genesis.
Hell yeah
Concur, good grill, good price. FWIW Replacement, repair, upgrade parts readily available & [online](https://grillparts.com/weber/).
Absolutely. Doesn’t look like they cleaned much but the inside is very easy to clean, the drip pan should slide right out. The flavorizer bars can be replaced easily and won’t have to do for years. 100 is great
OP if you won’t take it for $100, let me know where it is so I can grab it. It’s trivial to replace the flavorizor bars. Some degreaser, and stainless steel scrubber, and hose will make that thing look great.
I’d take this one over any of the new models they’re selling.
Anybody that would take 100 for that would probably take 75!!!!!
But pull the trigger either way
Spend some to replace elements and get to work!!!!!
