Jackie Price knows her way around a kitchen and St. Louis’ dining scene. The founder and owner of Fennel Cooking Studio in Midtown recently joined The Sauce podcast, and while she shared her journey from culinary school to opening her hands-on cooking space, she also revealed just a few of her favorite restaurants around town. Here, she shares a full list of five of her top spots in St. Louis

Balkan Treat Box
“I love everything Loryn [Nalic] does, and this is the place I always take out-of-town guests for lunch to show them how incredible the food scene is in STL! I’ve gotten my whole family obsessed with it and they order frozen pides from them online. I get the chicken side, sopska salad with feta, and brown butter hummus, though sometimes I branch out for their amazing cevapi.”

El Molino del Sureste
“I think some of the best flavors in STL happen here. I love ordering a variety of small bites and being amazed by their sauces and creativity with masa. Ceviche is one of my favorite foods, so I always order something with ceviche here and lots of savory, spicy things to share.”
5005-5007 S. Kingshighway Blvd., St. Louis, elmolinostl.com

Indo
“My go-to place for a celebration dinner. I have the same order every time: shrimp toast, cabbage salad, isaan hamachi, and palm sugar ribs. My wife and I split that, order sake, and try one new/wildcard item on the menu each time we go.”
1641D Tower Grove Ave., St. Louis, indo-stl.com

Pizzeria da Gloria
“This is my go-to place for a pizza & cocktail date night. I love the cozy vibes & great pizza and drink menus. I order a seasonal pizza every time (just had the patate pizza with pancetta the other day, but I can’t wait for the summer veggie pie with sungold tomatoes), then get a spritz and pretend I’m back in Italy.”
2024 Marconi Ave., St. Louis, pizzeriadagloria.com

Songbird
“My favorite breakfast place! I used to wait in line for an egg sandwich for hours at their booth at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market (and, fun fact, my wife proposed to me at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market after a market booth scavenger hunt that included an egg sandwich!). Now I’m at Songbird frequently and I alternate between their combo egg sandwich with honey and lox on a sesame seed bialy.”
4476 Chouteau Ave., St. Louis, songbirdstl.com
