My egg thermometer is steady at 225. The meat is increasing gradually. But I keep getting notifications like “is the lid open? We stopped the fan” what would cause this?

    I would hazard a guess it’s a probe placement issue

    Do you expose the probe to the coals or cover it?

    Do you have a the top vent open at all or is it completely closed?

    Do you maybe have a gap in the seal that is letting in cold air to the probe?

    I personally cover mine in a few layers of foil below it to deflect heat away a bit.

    I had that issue with mine when the top vent was open too much. I have the newer style vent with the single cover and when I had that issue I closed it almost all the way down. Like no more than 1/4″ to 3/8″ open. That evened it out.
