First time ever going to a 2 star and it seems to have scratched the itch. Essentially flawless meal, every bite felt calculated and they seemed to be operating at their peak. They have a commitment to using only canadian ingredients (many of which are grown steps away at the farm outside) and you could taste it, the ingredient quality was top tier although there were some interesting combinations. I guess you end up kind of limited if you’re not importing anything and have to come up with creative solutions.

The most impressive thing though was the service. Incredibly attentive without being stuffy or intrusive. My friend knocked over the stool they provided to rest her bag on and before she could even get up to fix it, it was like someone materialized and wordlessly picked it up for her. Honestly shoutout to the staff they were all amazing.

They also gave me and the friend I went with a loaf of their bread to take home which was pretty cool.

  1. I went there before Michelin came to Ontario and it’s still one of my top meals. Just a wonderful place, they focus on micro-local as much as possible (we had a sea urchin dish which obviously isn’t from the immediate area, it was from Bonavista Bay, but it was their beef, their duck eggs, their greens etc).
