Louisville restaurant Byrdie’s is a must-try for 2025

Byrdie’s in the NuLu neighborhood opened in December of 2024 on the first floor of Hotel Genevieve. Here’s what you can expect.

Byrdie’s, a French restaurant inside of Hotel Genevieve, has closed after one year in Louisville’s NuLu neighborhood, a spokesperson for the hotel confirmed in a Feb. 13 statement.

The spokesperson said Byrdie’s officially concluded service Feb. 13, just one day before Valentine’s Day. The permanent closure comes just days after the restaurant announced it would be taking a “brief pause to reset and recharge,” in a Feb. 7 Facebook post.

“Looking ahead, we are excited for the opportunity to reimagine the restaurant as a dining destination that fully reflects the character, culture and talent of our Louisville community,” the spokesperson said. “We look forward to introducing a new concept that highlights regional flavors, stories and connections, while continuing to enhance the overall guest experience at the hotel as well as the experience we create for and with our local community.”

Byrdie’s first opened during December 2024, with menu items such as escargot, roasted duck and other “French classics with a Southern twist.”

In the statement, the hotel thanked chef Jenner Tomaska and Katrina Bravo for bringing the concept to Louisville and to the guests of Hotel Genevieve. Originally from Chicago, the husband and wife duo were also behind Esmé, a fine-dining restaurant in Chicago which has earned a Michelin star since opening in 2021.

Additional details about future plans for the space will be available in the coming weeks, a spokesperson for Hotel Genevieve said in the statement.
