Saw this at Home Depot today is San Jose CA, zone 9A. Weather report for the next couple weeks is lows in mid 40’s and highs in the mid to high 50s.

Is it too early to plant tomatoes?

I started the seedlings last weekend.

Well, they won’t freeze to death. But they’re not gonna be as happy as others. That will go in later.

It’s that time here in Florida. I planted all my tomatoes and peppers this week.

Isn’t San Jose 9B? In any case, I’m waiting a few more weeks to be safe.

Lucky bastards, I just started seeds in NY.

Most of my tomatoes went in the ground today. I have two that are really big and they may just stay in the pots for the duration. (Location is Phoenix)

    1) Zone is less critical than climate. I’m in 9B near Houston Tx and some years on this date it’s in the teens. Other years (like this year) our cold weather is done and we’re firmly in the 80’s now. My tomatoes went out over a week ago and several of my peppers went out today.

    2) Big box stores don’t care about best planting times. They just want sales, and people will buy them without knowing better.
