If you’re looking for a restaurant you’ve never tried during visits to Indiana’s and Kentucky’s largest cities, the USA Today is always a handy tool. Their team is always scouting, looking for people, places, and things to put on the publication’s “Best of” lists.

USA Today’s Restaurants of the Year

What a job, huh? You’re a food writer for USA Today, which already means you get to sample the best of the best (hopefully) in your daily nine-to-five. But for this list, you get to travel the country in search of whatever greatness the 50 states have to offer. For our purposes, we’re just concerned with two states, and, in particular, two cities. Let’s get started.

Volare – Louisville

For starters, it’s an Italian restaurant, so luring traffic would hardly be difficult. Add the accolades from USA Today, and you’ll likely need to step away from the door. Volare is farm-to-table Italian, and they specialize in house-made pastas and classy, decadent desserts.

The USA Today writer singled out the Rotollini Di Melanzane, an eggplant dish (fried or grilled), and the Tiramisu. However, if you’re looking for the Volare menu, stay on the front page of the restaurant’s website and scroll down. If you click the menu tab, all you’ll see are desserts (which sound crazy good), wines, beers, and liquors.

Bluebeard – Indianapolis

Click the menu tab on Bluebeard’s website, and the first thing you’ll see is the restaurant’s mission statement. It’s all about food not just being a commodity, but also a catalyst for the community. We all know food brings people together, and that’s the goal at Bluebeard, another restaurant specializing in farm-to-table. By the way, that menu changes a little every day. I like that.

Are there any trips to Louisville or Indianapolis in your near future? If you’ll be in the mood for a little splurge, you now have a couple of highly-recommended options.
