Made my first burrito bowl today and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! I want to start meal prepping these on weekends for weekday lunches.

For those of you who regularly do burrito bowl prep, any basic dos and don’ts? What keeps well, what goes in freezer & what in fridge, should be stored separately, and how do you avoid it getting soggy?

On weekdays I leave pretty early and I can only spare 10 mins in kitchen.

I would store the sauce separately as well as anything you do not want to reheat/add cold to the final bowl.

For a burrito bowl I typically have the protein, rice, and beans in one container that I reheat then add everything else before I eat. It all comes down to personal preference though.

I also like to make a couple mix and match options so it isn’t exactly the same every day. Couple extra topping options could include some quick pickled jalapenos or red onions, pico de gallo, slices of fresh avocado or guacamole. Those could all be made in advance and wouldn’t add any time in the morning.

Looks good! I’m all about salsa verde in my burrito bowls tho. I buy it in a jar and it lasts for ever and is super delicious

Guacamole can be frozen! To avoid soggy lettuce I suggest the mason jar method–liquids and wet stuff on the bottom, lettuce on top 😊 hope that helps!

Looks delicious! Nice work!! I love to make meal prepped burrito bowls. I put cold toppings on the side; guac, sour cream (or if you sub greek yogurt), salsa. Some ppl don’t like lettuce hot. I plan 5 meals for the week so sometimes I’ll throw 2 in the freezer just in case something unexpected comes up mid week, or if I get burnout I can save them for another week. If I pull it out the night before it’ll be thawed enough by lunch. If I pull it out the morning of, it’ll be thawed by lunch (if I just leave it at my desk). Hope that’s what you were asking for!

Not a bad start! I would just do lettuce and rice on the bottom, then put all toppings on top. Top with sauce, or mix the sauce with lettuce first. Looks great!!

looks tasty! keep veggies and sauces separate to avoid sogginess, and maybe freeze proteins for freshness 👍
