Green flame is generally copper. Maybe the coal is contaminated. I definitely wouldn’t be cooking on it

No worries. Just the aurora borealis

  3. Probably copper, boron, or another metal of some kind combusting/burning. I would unfortunately throw out that bag of Charcoal as it’s probably contaminated (or if you can, get a refund back if it’s worth it to you).

If it is possible that you are cleaning with a brass brush, some of that got potentially tore off, and left behind on the grates/or fell through. If that’s the case, I’d recommend picking up the latest Scrub Daddy grill brush. Those are AMAZING!

I would not eat anything off of this, as you’ll get sick most likely if it is the contaminated coals.

Caused by dylithium crystals in the warp drive!

What are you burning an alternator in there or what?

Do you have rust on your grates? I’ve seen this rusty grates and would just use a brush and high heat to clean. Once tgw color is gone you’re good to go.

Aurora borialis at this time of year, in this part of the country, located entirely in your back yard???

i am suddenly and powerfully reminded of that photo shared a few months ago of the charcoal briquette with a giant, partially-stripped copper wire hanging out of it. you using Grill Expert brand?

No mother, it’s just the northern lights.

I remember one time we bought some magical flame dust, up at lake George. It made it this color. Only for show, it had warnings to not cook with. I’m sure someone has the name here.

I’ve gotten that with easy light coals. Let it burn for a bit and it should go orange.

  13. Sometimes the ink in paper will do that. Did you put paper in there by chance?

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your grill?

    Can I see?

If you take the grill off does it goes away? Mine was doing this today actually. Once I took the grill off it stopped. I left the grill on until the green went away, then I cooked on it.

It’s a vortex but not home made. Amazon. It doesn’t seem like it’s coming from the vortex though. Almost like it’s coming from the grate bar. I’m gunna run a test with charcoal only no grate, then grate, then the chips I used. The chips came from smokenlicious. Ma and pa shop. See if I can isolate where it’s coming from. Use Weber stainless steel brush. Don’t use cleaners, and always used Kingsford. Only new thing is those chips. (Well used them before)
