In Chicago’s crowded steakhouse scene, Deliz Italian Steakhouse brings a lot of assets, including its location, Chicago Magazine reported.

Deliz opened in December, in the spot formerly occupied by the restaurant Etta, at 1840 W. North Ave. “We wanted to bring something to Bucktown so people don’t have to go to River North or Gold Coast or the West Loop,” chef Jake Peterson told the magazine. “We wanted to give people something closer to home that could be that date-night spot or let them just come into the bar and get a pasta.”

Peterson worked at Etta, famous for its pasta. He partnered with Etta’s owner Steve Gogolab to open Deliz, which combines that pasta (think truffle cacio e pepe, squash agnolotti and tagliardi Bolognese) with “an impressive beef program.”

The Bucktown space was refurbished, including the addition of a massive custom wood grill by Grillworks. The menu features Australian wagyu from Mayura Station, one of the oldest ranches in Australia, served by only 16 restaurants in the United States. “I didn’t want to do Japanese beef; everyone can get their hands on it,” Peterson told the magazine.

In addition to steak and pasta, the menu features plenty of seafood, including a roasted seafood tower featuring crab, lobster, scallops, prawns, oysters and clams. Deliz is open for dinner seven days a week.
