The butcher that sold it told me it is ribeye. But someway somehow I doubt it. What do you guys think?

    It’s very possible that this is a very fatty ribeye. If it isn’t, it might be chuck.

    Its ribeye. Just not a very good looking one.   It does happen from time to time.  Was it from a local animal?

    Looks like a shoulder (chuck) steak or possibly the very end of the ribeye which are both close to each other. Google a pork coppa steak and this looks like a beef version of that. You get a couple with beautiful marbling and weird direction grain then it starts to get lean fast.

    If you got a good deal on it I wouldn’t be mad but I also wouldn’t call these Ribeyes.
