Bonheur by Matt Abé has been awarded two Michelin stars in the Michelin Guide UK and Ireland 2026 – a defining moment for the restaurant, which opened on Upper Brook Street in London’s Mayfair in November 2025.

In the months since opening, Bonheur, Matt Abé’s first solo venture, has quickly established a clear identity rooted in classical technique, precision, and artistry. Recognition from Michelin reflects the restaurant’s clarity of vision, consistency, and the collective talent of kitchen and front-of-house teams.

For Abé, being awarded two Michelin stars carries profound personal meaning. Sydney-born, he began cooking professionally at 16, training under Matt Moran at Aria Restaurant before moving to Melbourne’s Vue de Monde. At 22, Abé relocated to London, joining Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s and later Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, where he rose through the ranks to lead the restaurant, retaining three Michelin stars for eight consecutive years.

Abé said: “To be awarded two Michelin stars is incredibly emotional, not for the accolade itself, but for what it represents about teamwork. Every detail in every service comes from a group of people who show up each day with care and pride, and who believe deeply in what we’re building together. I’m endlessly grateful to them, and to the guests who have trusted us from the very beginning – and this really is, just the beginning.

“Bonheur holds so much meaning for me, because of where it is, the history it holds, and the responsibility and honour that comes with that. After years spent working in extraordinary kitchens and learning from incredible mentors, this was the right time to create something of my own, alongside a world-class team.”

Bonheur, meaning happiness in French, offers ingredient-led cuisine with a contemporary touch. Menus reflect Abé’s devotion to detail, with subtle nods to his Australian heritage and Asian influences woven throughout. Guests can choose from an à la carte menu or two tasting experiences – five-course Journey and seven-course Dream. Standout dishes include an elegant reworking of the classic quiche Lorraine, a 125-day aged Cumbrian blue grey sirloin exclusively sourced and aged for Bonheur by Lake District Farmers, and the signature pecan praline.
