    **base:**

    2 cups heavy cream

    2 cups milk

    1 cup sugar

    dash of salt

    5 eggs

    1 tablespoon vanilla paste

    **mix ins:**

60% cacao Ghiradeli baking squares crushed up

candied orange peel. I used David Lebovitz recipe from The Perfect Scoop book. I couldn’t find that exact recipe online but there are many other recipes online.

Grand Marnier. I love boozy ice cream and I always exceed the recommended amount to add, because if I can’t taste it, what’s the point in adding it? So I add to taste, after the base has chilled overnight, but then i let it chill again for several more hours before churning.

The end product is softer and a hair icier than other ice creams I have made without booze, but the tradeoff was worth it to me. The combination of flavors is intoxicating (literally). I barely got photos of this batch before I ate it all!

That sounds great. How did the candied peel hold up? Did it stay chewy or get brittle?
