Im from the south(ATL) and ive only had Five Guys. These are the best burgers imo. I have a hard time believing In-N-Out is better based off appearance alone. So whats the truth for those who had both is it really better?

I’ve had both. In-N-Out’s burgers are better to me. Five Guys’ fries are vastly superior

That’s just like, your opinion man…

Five guys is also outrageously expensive. I love them both, but the cost drives away from one of em.

Fellow ATLien here! I’ve never had in and out but I’ll go to bat for Shake Shack being the best chain restaurant burger you can find in the ATL area. Usually hit up the one at Perimeter Mall but I travel to Charlotte a couple times a year and visit the one there as well. No change in quality. I love five guys though. If I had a last meal, it’d be a shake shack burger with five guy fries.

Five Guys I think of a greasy, sloppy burger. In-N-Out I think of a fresh, clean burger. Both good, but I don’t think five guys is as worth it as it used to be.

Edit: Five Guys fries are WAY better though.

In N Out is the better value proposition in my opinion but I like both. They’re quite different so you would have to actually taste them both to see what hits your taste buds the best.

Never did a side by side but I like five guys but love in n out

  7. DogsOutTheWindow

Way better, but I like west coast style burgers much better. Not a big five guys fan.

In N Out is a great burger *FOR THE PRICE*.

Also, it’s extremely consistent with the best service in the industry.

  9. Jvalerio629

The quality and freshness of in n out shocked me. far superior. 5 guys fries are way better.

  10. SalsaChica75

My take : In-N-Out has better burgers/special sauce and Five guys has better fries

  11. In n Out can’t touch five guys or shake shack.

I have Culver’s, Freddie’s, Five Guys, Shake Shack, and Schoop’s all inside of 15 minutes.

I go to Culver’s and Schoop’s the most by far. Five Guys after that. The other two…I just don’t have enough burger consumption to spread myself any thinner.

  13. auld-guy

Honestly? They are just different…and both great in their own way. Cop out, I know, but I wouldn’t hesitate walking into either.

  14. VorpalBlade-

Both really good but you can get two full combos and a milkshake for the price of one combo at five guys haha.

  15. headcase617

Of those two…..In and Out…..and I don’t even really like it, I just think 5Guys is trash

If a being from another planet wanted me to present them with the burger that most perfectly symbolized a basic, classic, American fast food burger I’d probably pick In-N-Out.

It’s overrated and overhyped to be sure(though considerably less expensive than Five Guys), it’s not outrageously good, it’s not life changing, it’s just everything a basic fast food burger should be.

And their fries are unequivocally trash.

Both chains have fresh beef, generous free toppings, and fresh house-cut fries.

5 Guys makes a tastier product across the board and it’s

They also charge you 3 times the price that In-N-Out does for any given item. $4 vs $12 for a double patty. $7 vs $2.50 for fries. 5 Guys does have slightly larger portions, but not nearly enough to offset the difference in price.

  18. Burgers are about the same, both good but in different ways. Sometimes I want Five Guys and other times I crave In N Out. Five Guys wins on choice of ingredients and In n Out wins on sheer customization. In n out is cheaper though. Both are great, but as a pure burger I prefer Five Guys, but animal style double double I think beats Five Guys.

Five Guys fries are so much better those. Both use freshly cut potatoes, but In n Out’s fries are too thin, they taste like eating match sticks. Getting them cooked well done makes them slightly better, but still way below average. I’d take most fast food fries over In N out to be honest.

  19. give_me_your_body

Five Guys is greasy as fuck compared to In N Out and it’s also way more expensive.

  20. I think they’re both amazing in their own special way, but In N Out breaks the tie for me.

  21. Proof-Bid-2144

I’m In-N-Out is better because it’s half the price for a meal combo, and I also genuinely like their food more

  22. J-Nowski

In-N-Outs affordability makes it better in my book

  23. Rich-Context-7203

Double-double animal style beats anything at 5 gays and costs half as much.

  24. Ok-Potential-1430

Try the burger and fries animal style. You will be hooked!!

  25. SouthHarpeth

You can’t get a better drive thru burger than in & out.

  26. ricodog13

Both good. I prefer In N Out though. Tastes fresher and half the price. 5 Guys burgers are greasier gut bombs but their fries are great.

  27. LongTime20

In n out burger is way better. Five guys is too greasy and they changed in quality over the years. In n out is the same since probably 1948 lol.

  28. KissmyFoodie

Five guys is okay need more seasoning but in and out is always a go to

  29. ExtremelyDecentWill

Five guys is not even close IMO, but I am a native Californian, so take my opinion with as many grains of salt as you need it to be palatable.

When they came here I was excited to try them out, based on the hype I’d heard online, but I was so thoroughly disappointed in the food.

  30. Ok-Owl7377

I’ll take Habit Burger over FGs grease burger.

  31. ALeeTatum

Both are good, but just different. In-N-Out is a classic fast food spot, while Five Guys is more of a fast casual restaurant with a higher quality product, albeit a bit over priced.

  32. elektroloko

Imo , one isn’t better than the other. They’re just different.

  33. krumbs2020

Five guys: taste better because they have more options to put on their burgers. You pay for it, nearly double, versus In-N-Out

In-N-Out: simple, consistent, clean and really affordable.

  34. basshed8

Can’t tell I’ve always paid like 60% more for five guys and every single burger has been incredibly greasy

  35. FukThePatriarchy1312

About the same in terms of quality on average, but 5 Guys charges an insane amount for such a mid burger and their fries are a soggy mess.
