Scarborough will be welcoming a new family-run wine bar – just in time for the upcoming Labour Day long weekend!

Named after the beach just across the road, Brighton Wine Bar has taken over the former Wild Fig space at 190 The Esplanade – with an unreal sunset view to match the all-Australian wine list, three-quarters of which is exclusively WA-made drops.

Food takes a similar approach, focusing on premium local produce across chef Ivan Bayona’s Mediterranean-inspired menu – think freshly baked focaccia with za’atar butter, handmade seafood ravioli with vongole and saffron foam, picanha beef with salsa verde, as well as a robust selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.

“At the heart of Brighton is connection and community,” says Ben Randall, who co-owns the bar alongside Marion McAllister and Lauren Nolan.

“Every decision, from what’s on the plate to what’s poured into the glass, reflects the close relationships we’ve built with local producers and suppliers. That same care flows through to our service, creating a welcoming space where guests feel genuinely looked after.”

“Brighton Wine Bar builds on the vibrant scene Scarborough is known for, while offering something refreshingly different for locals and visitors alike. It’s set to become a new place to gather, unwind, and spend time together.”

“We have a prime position to watch the sun setting over the Indian Ocean, but we hope what keeps guests coming back is our laid-back and approachable, yet refined vibe. Whether it is a glass of wine with a few nibbles or settling in for a full meal.”

Brighton Wine Bar is located at 190 The Esplanade, Scarborough, and is scheduled to open early March.
