Morons downvoting one of the most famous dishes in New York

  5. I just saw this in the Korean cooking competition. Looks nice, well done.

I think your lasagna was defective, still looks good though, just not like a lasagna.

  7. AnArgonianSpellsword

Everybody chill, op is clearly a dimension hopper visiting from a universe where lasagna was invented wrong

In general I feel like “deconstructed” anything can go to hell. I’m paying you to construct the food.

  9. Selig_420

Why did they serve you a spoon to eat it with and not a fork and knife?

Also as an Italian that looks like a very shit lasagna

  10. Nomadzord

I’m making homemade lasagna today. I hope mine doesn’t look like that.

  11. I know Don Angie’s lasagna when I see it.

It’s actually amazing for those wondering.

Google says this is rotolo or lasagna rolls. It looks fancy.

What I would call just lasagna is rectangular. A meal that brings comfort and love. Bubbling, golden-brown crust of toasted parmesan lay heavy, molten layers of pasta, draped like silk over a rich heart of slow-simmered Bolognese. Each forkful pulled away a ribbon of creamy ricotta, white and velvet against the deep crimson of the vine-ripened tomatoes. But also in a rectangular shape. Baked in a dish that was my mother’s, and her mother’s before that.

I have had this at Don Angie and it was so delicious I recreated their recipe at home over the holidays. It looks like a gimmick but this form factor actually works so well

    I bet it tasted great.
The shape of a meal doesn’t affect the taste.

My teenager would likely devour this dish made this exact way. They, weirdly[imo] dislike the regular lasagna noodle texture and the crunchy thing going on here seems up their alley.

Cool dish, I would try this once.

I’m making some chicken cacciatore for dinner tonight! That lasagna looks yummy!

  17. CantaloupeCamper

Normally I’m more traditional with my lasagna but this looks legit 👍🏻

  18. toocoolforgg

Italian food attracts the biggest snobs lmao. Looks delish

  19. If that’s fresh made sheets of pasta I bet this is amazing.

ITT a lot of people who don’t know that lasagne, in Italian, refers to the pasta shape and not the dish commonly made with them, which is lasagne al forno. In Italy, lasagne are cooked in many different ways, including just in broth (lasagne in brodo).

  21. I’m not sure what that is, but I’m listening….

  22. jsweaty009

Never seen a lasagna like this but holy shit I would tear that up

  23. When I was a kid and we were treated to the Olive Garden (it was an event, I’ll tell ya) I HATED their lasagna because I didn’t think it was made right. Turns out my mom always made hers with cottage cheese instead of ricotta-marscapone. In her defense, this was in the 80s (and Olive Garden was “good”) so your average local grocery chain wasn’t likely to carry fancy cheese like that.
