Imagine your friend was like, hey I’m making sandwiches, want to come over? And then they handed you this.

Reddit can be mean sometimes. You clearly put a lot of effort into that! That said, it does look like it needs a bit of dressing. Probably just some mayo. How was it?

What is the name of this thing? I dont doubt this is authentic, but I want to research the Italians who embrace this. Its almost like its a fried eggplant sandwich, but they forgot the eggplant.
(Edit: nevermind, I see in the notes its panelle. Crazy Sicilians….)

I need more cooking tutorials like this, maybe a whole recipe book.

Wait bread is bread?

I love the way you did the step by step instructions! I’ve never seen a sandwich like this and it looks really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Had never heard of this, but evidently chickpea fritter sandwiches are iconic in Sicily. Thanks for sharing!

Whenever my mom makes breaded chicken she’ll make a couple small breading patties. They’re pretty good, never would’ve thought to make a sandwich with them though

Hachi Machi!

Panelle is a must try when in Sicily. Often served with a slice of lemon as well, but youre right that it doesn’t usually get a spread. Though I have to admit that some aioli and Calabrian chiles would improve it to my tastes. Buon appetito!

I bet adding pesto to that sandwich would take it to another level.

A roux sandwich?

I couldn’t do dry like this but with accoutrements it would be 🔥. Love the concept!

Looks delicious, OP. Do people ever eat it with a marinara?

I love making things with chickpea flour! Very underused ingredient, but it has protein and fiber in it!

So pickle chips minus the pickles. Interesting.

Put some Garlic Aoili, roasted grape tomatoes, and caramelized onions on that thing like that beer-drinking sandwich guy

I used to fry up the leftover batter after my mom was done making chicken parm. Looks a lot like this. It was delicious, but never made a sandwich out of it.

Honestly looks good. What’s it called

My chef made basically this but deep fried them into French fries, you should try that too! Think he dipped them in muhamara but pesto or chimmichurri are probably great too

Love this sandwich. Looks so good and just like in Sicily!

When I had it the texture inside was more like potato from fries than a falafel but essentially yes

I respect the hand written instructions per slide! Makes you really appreciate REAL people doing REAL things.

Bro make a fake chicken cutlet sandwich without the chicken cutlet.

Are you British? You fried fancy flour but not fancy enough to be a roux? On untoasted, unseasoned, no filling sandwich?
