I wanted to tell someone how good this is and realized nobody I know wants to hear about my canned fish and canned clam chowder dinner lol.

Anyway…

Progresso chowder (it’s fine – don’t have other choices)

King Oscar olive oil mackerel fully drained

Copious black pepper

Copious Tabasco

Some nutritional yeast to thicken soup and add micronutrients

???

Profit

Drained? Swill that….. Did you dump the fish into your soup?

Canned fish and canned soup in general is a great combo that can feed somebody in minutes. For instance there are some canned gumbos which are really improved by adding a can of seafood, or adding sardines to plain old tomato soup and having a grilled cheese and/or salad makes a solid meal.

I think it’s a poor reflection on a lot of the influencers out there who hype up canned fish that they never mention even simple options like this. It’s like telling people to eat lentils because (like a thousand other things) they are “superfoods” and then give almost zero guidance on options for using them in meals.

Very nice. The black pepper 👌

I think this combo looks so good. Sometimes I am just too tired to do anything complicated but this is a wonderful option! Thanks for the idea

Never tasted a chowder I didn’t LOVE! So, you’ve inadvertently solved an issue I had. I drained a few cans of sardines and anchovies to make an ‘Anchovette’ paste. Ima gunna use the oil I kept for a chowder!!!
