I was way too pleased about being able to pour 1 glass from each of these and go back comparing between them with my hubby. And now I can say I'm a Carneros pinot noir fan.
How long will these last now that I've stabbed them with the Coravin? Can I really come back to the months later?
I love this thing, so much fun.

How long they last will depend on how much you pulled out and how much argon you dumped in. Store them back in their sides in a cool place and you will be lucky to get a couple of months out of them. If half the bottle is gone, you got 2-3 weeks before oxidation is noticeable.
Months. Years. The cork reseals itself
Don’t forget to remove the coravin when not using as it allows argon to escape
How long and how often depends on the size of your needle and quality of the cork. Sales people on the road pouring samples and using Coravin will give the best real world feedback, and im curious to what they say. The reports I’ve seen direct from Coravin reveal that thinner needles and denser corks do better, assuming you are using argon to back fill, with 5-9 needle insertions before leaking occurs.
First, I hope you removed the top foil before using the coravin.
Secondly, as long as the coravin was used correctly, and you follow best practices, you should get a good amount of time out of the bottles. I personally don’t stand by them for long term preserving of wines, but they definitely work in the mid term. If you drank half the bottle I wouldn’t expect to see much time remaining. Make sure to store horizontally, and if you want extra safety you can pour wax over the top.
Coravins will stop oxidation but from my understanding it can’t stop volatile compounds in wine from evaporating or escaping due to changes I. Headspace and pressure. Those volatile compounds are what give wine it’s aromatics and taste.
That shower head attachment is the shit
Hi, wine rep here. I use my Coravin all the time, it helps so I don’t blow through my sample budget in the first week lol.
I generally get about 2 weeks out of my coravin’d bottles, but there’s a few factors at play (from my individual experience)
The more wine you take out of the bottle, the quicker it’ll turn. My bottles also get tossed in my wine bag and bounced around all day when driving around, so the juice mixes with the little bit of air inside. Also, the more you puncture the cork, the faster it’ll turn. Lastly, I feel like big bold wines last a little longer than the delicate ones.
I will never keep a coravin’d bottle for longer than two weeks (sometimes one), because I want my wine to show perfectly when tasting. If you are okay with a tiny amount of oxidation, you may be able to get a month on some bottles!
