Balık Ekmek: Not just my favorite, it is a beloved street food for both locals and tourists alike.
If you have ever walked through Eminönü, you already know the feeling: the sound of seagulls, the smell of the sea, the boats gently moving by the shore… and that irresistible aroma of grilled fish in the air🐟
Balık ekmek is not just a sandwich. It is an experience. Right by the water in Istanbul, especially around Eminönü, you will see both locals and tourists lining up in front of the famous fish boats. Some grab one quickly during their lunch break, others sit by the sea, squeeze fresh lemon over the fish, add onions and a little salt, and simply enjoy the moment. It is simple, affordable, and somehow unforgettable.
In this video, I am sharing my homemade version of this iconic Turkish street food. Fresh bread, perfectly cooked tender fish, fresh onions, a squeeze of lemon… nothing complicated, just humble flavors coming together beautifully.
If you have ever tried Balık Ekmek in Eminönü, tell me about your experience in the comments! And if it is still on your list, I hope this video inspires you to make it at home:)
