I’ve been through 3 of these now because I knock them onto the floor and the needles get ruined. Came across this brand Subminimal, it’s a genius little gadget. The needles retract and after use/retraction, it doesn’t matter if you drop it!

Love mine it’s actually really cool and works well. 2nd this!

The subminimal is awesome! I got one for Christmas and it’s miles better than my more traditional style one from Aliexpress

I couldn’t agree more! It’s a wonderful device, very well made and the feel of extending and retracting the needles is very satisfying.

I use the included magnet to keep it stuck on the side of my machine for storage.

In before “I have a cheaper one and it’s just as good so I’m smarter than you” ahhh comments

  5. A little pricey, but I like it! Will keep an eye out for any holiday sales later this year (and in the meantime will try to not poke myself with my 3D printed WDT that does not retract like this lol)

I had a cheap WDT before, and I thought I was a bit of an idiot falling down a rabbit hole when I ordered the Subliminal WDT – but I’m so glad I did as it seems to distribute my coffee grounds much better than my cheap one, and it magnetically sticks to the side of my machine for convenience and tidyness.

I went with one of these off the bat… couldn’t be happier. I just knew the other traditional ones would end up bent. I can just slap this on the side of the machine and not worry about it. It’s $30 bucks so not crazy and well designed

100% worth it. Spent money on far less worth it items.

  9. DeathByLeshens

I have that same one. I put the magnet on the side of my unit and it has been there for years. It is great.

It’s super easy to fix and clean up as well!

I had coffee stuck so it wouldn’t retract well and it was no problem opening up

  11. I have this one too. It’s fun to fiddle with lol. Solid purchase

Got it black Friday for $22ish. They go on sale periodically if that $30 price tag feels just a bit steep

I had a perfectly functional tool but still bought this one and I’m never switching again. Something about it is so addicting and satisfying to use!

Yeah this thing is totally worth the coin. It’s so little but has improved my workflow so much just by not having to carefully aim and place the old distributer in its holder. The fact it magnetizes to the side of my machine to is just *chef’s kiss*

Just asking, just asking.. howcome the shein one is not as good as this? I’m genuinly new to this, any explanation will do. Thanks in advance.

Great WDT tool but I use it more as a fidget device

  16. lcwallace

I don’t always use it, but it’s a perfect little tool. Magnetic and one handed opening and closing

This and the dosing cup scale are my favorite items from subminimal. They used to ship it with thinner replacement spikes now they are all kind of thick

  18. Expensive-Total-312

I have one love it, for 30 euro it wasn’t very expensive, spare needles, and it is super satisfying to fidget with while you wait for your machine to warm up. magnet is really handy to mount it where ever you like or you can use the included stand.

Great WDT, but still be careful with it! I flicked it too hard once and put a big crack all the way down the side of the plastic shell. I’ll get around to gluing it sooner or later.

I had a cheaper one but asked for this one for Christmas and it’s great. The needles are very sturdy and the build quality is excellent.

  21. Super-Badger-3536

Be careful it can impale your thumb if you’re not careful

  22. Yeah this thing is really nifty. I got to try it out because it came with a used Bambino I bought. I already had the MHW-3Bomber magnetic one with the hanging stand that I really like. I was tempted to keep it but I offloaded it with all the other tools that came with it to recoup some costs.

My only concern were grounds accumulating in it but I think it’s easy enough to open up.

  23. Jamooooose

I got one yesterday and love it, so satisfying

  24. DaKineNayNay

Adding a note that the replacement needles that come with this are also thinner!! The needles on the flick out of the box are 0.5mm. The replacement sets in the box are finer and work better and are .35mm.

I ordered one and my needles were rusted out of the box. I contacted customer service and they shipped me a new one right away. Great customer service.

Subminimal mentioned! Yes. What a great company. Love this WDT.

  26. Love that thing. Don’t care if WDT matters-Using the Subminimal is my favorite step!

  27. Love mine. Anyone have issues with grinds clogging up the internals? Lately mines been a little sluggish on the retract I’m wondering if a few grinds have made their way inside.

  28. looking for a new wdt after all the needles have broken off of my Normcore wdt in about a year.

Curious with this, don’t coffee grinds stick to the needles and make its way into the body of it over time?

  29. JoeKleine

Love the flick. I was anti buy a WDT tool guy, but once I saw this one in action I had to get it. It’s a nice fidget toy for me lol.

  30. NoOneCares1357

I am being so honest when I say that I would have bought this even if I didn’t have an espresso machine. It’s such a good fidget toy

Got one of these arriving tomorrow! Been wanting one for a while and just upgraded my entire setup after moving overseas so figured it was time to grab one. Their cup scale will probably make its way into my set at some point.
