I'm a casual, looking to learn more. Which is higher quality? I've been drinking Coppola Claret bc it's always at my grocery and priced much better than Decoy and Dao. Then I see this Bordeaux at Costco with a Kirkland label at $6.99. Looking forward to trying it. What's you're preference on these inexpensive choices?

I drink that Kirkland Bordeaux all the time. It’s great for $7.
It’s really up to your palate, I really like that Kirkland bottling personally but YMMV
kirkland bordeaux was veery good
Always Kirkland, it’s typically a better wine in there for a cheap price. They’re not all winners but odds are in your favor.
Isn’t the Coppola like, triple the price?
If you’re willing to spend up to $20. Kirkland has some far greater reds. Their Oakville Cab is like, $14 I think? And their Rhone crus are like $13. The Kirkland Bordeaux subregions (like St Julian and Margaux) are also typically under $20. Hell, even the Kirland Gran Selezione Chianti Classico is only $19.
The chicken.
Neither for me TBH, too many others that are better right now.
I like the fancy wire!
Old world for me
They’re really two different wines, so for me it would technically be about pairing, occasion, etc. That said, in a vacuum I take the Bourdeaux because Costco is always punching above its weight. As another commenter said, you can play in the whole range of pricing for Kirkland wines without going over $30 and get a chance to try wine styles from all over the world.
It’s not close. There’s a reason one has a gimmick.
Definitely the Coppola Claret, would love to know how the Bourdeaux is though..
Almost all the Kirkland wines are fairly good for the price. My personal favorites is their cote du Rhône, Gigondas, Chablis, Chianti Gran Selezione, and Malbec. Their Oakville Cab is excellent too.
I tried the Kirkland Bordeaux recently and thought the price-to-quality ratio was outstanding. Coppola’s Claret isn’t bad for grocery store wine at the Costco price, but I think the Kirkland Bordeaux is better and costs even less.
Kirkland all day
Bought the Superior at the weekend. Drank some and made braised short ribs today with it. I like it for its price point.
Bordeaux any day between these. The copola is ass and I am not the biggest fan of the intense fruitiness of American cabs
The Bordeaux, hands down. Much better quality for value.
Kirkland for sure!
Kirkland – I’ve heard some folks find it so great that they even cellar it.
I’ll grab the Costco Bordeaux. I liked it so much last year, I bought a case. I think it was around $4 a bottle.
Just had the Bordeaux last night. Was pretty good for the price, can’t complain. The cherry and oak notes were a bit weak and its’ body was a tad lighter than I was hoping for, but you get what you pay for. Overall a great value at under $10
Both 😀
Kirkland for sure. Coppola Claret was my go-to many years ago when I wanted a reasonably priced wine that presented as classier than your Yellowtails and Fetzers. Unfortunately over time that wine has become overly extracted and overly manipulated grocery store mid juice.
Neither
At that price difference Kirkland bdx hands down.
I really didnt like the copola and havent had the costco Bordeaux. Im going costco
Kirkland Bordeaux rocks.
Get both
The one witough that gimmick packaging.
Kirkland, but if you’re looking to learn more, buy both and do a side by side. It’ll help you see the differences and also figure out your palate.
Kirkland.
