Frenchie has opened in Melbourne, with everything on the French restaurant and bar’s menu sitting at $14.
The venue on Collins St is blurring the lines between classic bistro and modern social dining, channeling the spirit of Saint-Germain-des-Prés through a Melbourne lens.
Co-Owner Lucas Boucly and Head Chef Sylvain Bernard (ex-Chez Olivier Le Bistro) have crafted a menu that draws on classic French technique while “stripping away formality”.
Designed to share, guests can expect dishes such as beef cheek with sauce bourguignonne and Parisian mash; Cordon Bleu meatballs with pea velouté; tuna steak with peppercorn sauce; confit duck leg with potatoes sarladaises; steak entrecote; and a ratatouille tart.

For $14, Frenchie also serve caviar bumps from a roving caviar and Champagne trolley wheeled tableside throughout the night.
The drinks list is also $14, and includes cocktails on tap, including White Negroni with elderflower cloud, a Cognac Highball with apricot brandy and dirty martinis. The wine list leans French and Australian, and there are also beers on tap.
Frenchie is open from Monday to Saturday from 5pm to late.
